Machine Operator II - Wood Shop - 2nd Shift

Position: Machine Operator II - 2nd shift Wood Shop

Location: This position is in our integrated materials plant in beautiful Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We produce custom packaging.

Wage: $23.28/hour - Shift: 3:30 PM - 2 am  with optional OT 

Reporting directly to the 2nd Shift Lead, and the Shift Supervisor as a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating, repairing, and maintaining of equipment in multiple departments or the woodshop department.  Safety, quality, productivity, and strong work ethic are important to the Ventek culture.

What you will be doing:

  • Proficiently operating 7or more pieces of equipment in standard manufacturing departments or proficiently operating all woodshop department equipment.
  • Must be exceptionally proficient in each departments’ systems and processes.  This includes being able to effectively operate department and equipment with no additional guidance.
  • Make efficient setups and assist others with setup/operation on other production equipment.
  • Must pass forklift operation and safety training to obtain certification.
  • Assist in material handling duties when required including gathering of necessary materials, unloading/loading trailers, and handling scrap.
  • Assist in physical inventory at month end, year-end, and during audits.
  • Must efficiently and effectively follow all manufacturing instructions required for each job and maintain all manufacturing and QA specifications for each job.
  • Closely follow all manufacturing instructions: CQS, product print, production packet, etc. and maintain and document quality checks confirming specifications for each job ran, including 1st piece and periodic checks.
  • Accurately report production data: piece count, times, work order #, etc. and maintain records as required.
  •  Take required measurements using a tape measure, or other measuring device or gauge, and work from drawings, prints, and specs as required.
  • Maintain equipment as directed and assist maintenance with troubleshooting and meeting preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Perform machine/line adjustments necessary to create efficient setups and produce quality product.
  • Palletize finished and WIP product in an organized fashion utilizing safe methods for appropriate transportation. 
  • Assisting with other duties as assigned.

  • Previous experience in wood shops /warehousing is required.
  • You need to possess a “get it done” attitude and a sense of urgency to resolve any problems/tasks.
  • To succeed in this position, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills and be reliable, having good initiative, being committed, and being safety and quality focused is a must.
  • You must be able to perform all physical requirements, including but not limited to bending, lifting, stretching, stooping, reaching, and working in ambient summertime temperatures. Ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Having the ability to effectively work with other team members in a continuous paced environment.
  • You will need to have the ability to read and understand manufacturing instructions and be able to perform various duties, including stretch wrapping, printing of production labels, filling out various paperwork used for quality control and shipping purposes.
